Oh, I don’t have a problem with the “friendly tone” of this reply. It’s simply an admission that there is a problem. And it makes me wonder how many customers will take issue with that and leave negative reviews for the app.
But you know what? This is an excellent opportunity for Google to educate people about what has been happening behind the scenes and why they will start seeing more ads in their Gmail (and other Google products). As well as giving people some free stuff as a token of appreciation for standing still in line, who knows? Maybe there will be an option to opt out of all advertising on Gmail, though that would seem like a high-risk strategy for Google – unlike continuing to put ads into Gmail, which seems like a low-risk, high-reward choice since it doesn’t impact the user experience or negatively impact user retention rates.
